Our Tennis Pros

Alison Mays became the MFCF Director of Tennis in August 2014.  She has been a USPTA certified teaching professional since 2003.  Since 2011 she has been working energetically with the USPTA and with the USTA on developing a strong foundation for teaching 10 & Under Tennis.

Alison Mays has been an active teaching professional with the MFCF since 2009.  As she is also a Physical Therapist, she has worked on a part-time basis for years with various local pros and clubs-most recently John’s Island Club, to share her passion of teaching tennis.   Alison began playing tennis at age 12.  She played tennis for Northeastern University in Boston, and continued to play competitively when she moved to Florida, playing tournaments and USTA League tennis.  Alison lives in Vero Beach with her husband and fellow teaching pro, Dean.  Her two sons, Jay and Eric, have both actively volunteered for the MFCF Tennis programs over the years.  Alison is very excited to be the new Director of Tennis and hopes to continue to grow the Kids on Court programs.  She feels we have a unique foundation which provides our children with the opportunity to have fun playing tennis, while learning to live a healthy and active lifestyle.

Kristen Wilson has been a part of The Mardy Fish Children's Foundation "Kids on Courts" since 2009. Kristen is a teaching pro at Windsor in Vero Beach and has been a USPTA certified teaching professional for 6 years. She originally came from the Little Harbor Club in Harbor Springs, Michigan where she also coached both the boys and girls Petoskey Tennis Teams. Kristen has an extensive background in USTA 10 and Under Tennis, having been USTA trained and passionately involved in 10 and Under for three years. Kristen Wilson coordinates and over sees all of the MFCF "Kids on Courts" programs and teaching on court for USTA Sunday Match play and our Summer Camps. Kristen lives in Vero Beach with her husband, Shaun, baby, Arletta and dog.

Michael Daugherty began playing tennis at the age of 10. His mother, Margaret, introduced him to the sport. Mike played competitively as a junior and went on to play #1 Singles and Doubles at Northwood University in Midland, MI. After his college days, Mike taught tennis in a number of different places and started another career as a school teacher. For the last 17 years, Mike has been the Director of Tennis at the Leland Country Club in Leland, MI, during their busy Summer Season. He returns to Vero Beach in time to teach school and resume teaching tennis for the Mardy Fish Foundation. This is Mike's 5th year teaching tennis for the MFF.

Kristin Black has been with the Mardy Fish Foundation for the past 2 years. She started playing tennis at age 7.  Kristin played while in college, then attained her USPTA, and USPTR certifications.  Kristin has enjoyed being a pro for close to 20 years now. Although Kristin has taught in the states of Virginia, and Michigan, the state of Florida is her main residence.  Aside from Mardy Fish, Kristin teaches at Indian Trails Tennis Club . She is a proud mother to Charlotte and Victor, who both love the game of tennis and have been an active part of the Mardy Fish program.

Margaret Daugherty started playing tennis as a teenager in Upstate New York. She loved the game and transferred that love of the game to her seven children, all of whom played varsity tennis on their high school teams. When the youngest of her children was in high school, Margaret began coaching both the boys and girls high school varsity tennis teams. Several of her players won state championships under her guidance. She coached high school tennis for 25 years before retiring. She wasn't through with tennis though. For the last 16 years, Margaret has assisted her son, Mike, with the tennis program at the Leland Country Club, in Leland, MI. This is Margaret's 4th year teaching tennis for the MFF.
